Katrina is an expressive graphic designer currently based in Newcastle, Australia. She specialises in branding, editorial and print design and enjoys the challenge of finding creative solutions to a variety of problems.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2016. She has spent the last 3+ years working as a graphic designer for a local signage company and flexing her freelance skills in print and digital design.

Client Project, 2019
Foolproofreading is a proofreading business, founded by Silas Haigh in 2019. Silas asked me to create a logo and business card that would portray his business as professional yet playful.
I drew inspiration from imagery of a fool’s hat and turning book pages. I used elements from both of these concepts to form a unique and fun logo. I then created an alternate version of the logo to spice up the business card. Check out the website foolproofreading.com to see the logo in action!
Self-directed University Project, 2016 (updated 2020)
After travelling both interstate and overseas, I became frustrated at having to purchase a plastic card every time I used a new public transport system and worried about the environmental impacts of producing so many single-use plastic cards. I wanted to design a product that solved these problems.
I designed a brand identity for a recyclable travel pass and debit card that can be used everywhere in the world and rewards its users for choosing greener transport options. The name 'Emu' is a nod to the brand's Australian roots and the logo is inspired by an emu’s head and a location pin icon.
Magazine Layout & Story, 2017
I was given a brief to interview local creatives and write an article to be showcased in the next edition of Pumphouse Magazine. The article also needed to adhere to the magazine’s style guidelines.
Two fellow students and I interviewed the founder of a local creative agency (Nodding Dog). I then transcribed, edited and tweaked the interview to fit into the magazine spread parameters.
Pumphouse School of Design Project
Micro Theatre is an annual night-time festival of short plays performed in intimate non-traditional spaces. The festival wanted a new logo, promotional poster, and black and white printed programme to market their event as lively, cosy and original.
Using images from past festivals as a starting point, I opted for a monochromatic design, accented by a deep red to portray a sense of warmth and drama. The couch logo is a nod to the unusual and more relaxed venues that the festival is known for.
